About Jason Charos
Jason Charos is a jazz trumpeter, composer, and arranger based in New York City. He is a graduate of the University of Miami Frost School of Music, where he served as a teaching assistant to Brian Lynch. His career highlights include recording in the trumpet section on the GRAMMY Award-winning album The Omni-American Book Club by the Brian Lynch Big Band and touring with and arranging for multi-GRAMMY Award-winning artist Samara Joy. He can be heard on her singles “Lush Life” and “Flor De Lis” as well as her most recent album Portrait on which he arranged “You Stepped Out of a Dream” and “No More Blues.” Over the past couple years, Charos has toured extensively with the Samara Joy Octet, including performances at L’Olympia Theatre in Paris, Roundhouse in London, Carnegie Hall in New York City, the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, the 2024 Newport Jazz Festival, and the BBC Proms at Royal Albert Hall in London. In March 2022, he recorded his debut album, Opening Statement, made up entirely of original music. It was produced by Brian Lynch and will be released on his label Hollistic MusicWorks on August 22, 2025, with the first single “The Crown” featuring Dafnis Prieto available now.
